Airbus celebrated the delivery of its 10,000th aircraft last week - an A350-900 for Singapore Airlines. Singapore Airlines not extending first A380 lease
Singapore Airlines (SIA), which has 19 A380s in its fleet, has decided not to extend the lease contract for its first A380 which was the first of five A380s delivered from 2007. Decisions about keeping them - which are on 10-year leases - are due between this month—for the initial aircraft—and April 2017. NokScoot to expand fleet with seven B777-200s
NokScoot - the Thai-registered long-haul, low cost carrier joint venture between Thailand's Nok Air and Singapore Airline’s Scoot - is set to strengthen its fleet and support its growth plan with the acquisition of seven more wide-body aircraft. Scoot to launch first flights to Europe
Scoot, the Singapore Airlines long-haul, low-cost carrier (LCC), has announced it will start flying to Europe for the first time next summer. Scheduled to commence on 20 June 2017, the airline will operate non-stop services four times per week between Singapore and Athens using B787-8 equipment. Singapore Airlines will terminate its South American passenger operations from 20 October this year meaning it will no longer offer cargo belly capacity into the Brazilian market. The carrier says its three times weekly Singapore Changi-São Paulo Guarulhos via Barcelona El Prat service has suffered from poor passenger loads in recent months thereby warranting its closure. Virgin Australia shareholders become strange bedfellows
Chinese companies have upped their stake in Virgin Australia Holdings as a second mainland conglomerate bought a stake in the carrier. The Nanshan Group will buy about 20 per cent of Australia’s second-largest airline from Air New Zealand, the Auckland-based carrier said in a statement recently.
