Some 93 per cent of Hong Kong Aircrew Officers Association members have voted to push ahead with their work-to-rule protest over the Christmas period after rejecting a proposed pay increase. Lufthansa Cargo says it will continue to operate all of its flights despite the walkout announced by the pilots’ union, Vereinigung Cockpit. The strike was set to ground all cargo flights scheduled to depart from Frankfurt on Wednesday and Thursday. Despite early signs of a recovery, Lufthansa Cargo is reportedly planning to to reduce its workforce by 10 per cent in 2010 in response to the steep declines in freight revenue and traffic in 2009 which pushed Lufthansa Cargo US$300 million into the red in the first nine months of the year from a $240 million profit in the same period in 2008.
