Cathay Pacific pilots vote to strike

November 11, 2014 by PLA Editor

Some 93 per cent of Hong Kong Aircrew Officers Association members have voted to push ahead with their work-to-rule protest over the Christmas period after rejecting a proposed pay increase. If a resolution is not reached, pilots will refuse to work outside of their contractual commitments. This could result in flight delays and cancellations during the year's peak travel season. … [Read more...] about Cathay Pacific pilots vote to strike

Business as usual for Lufthansa despite strike

October 7, 2014 by PLA Editor

Lufthansa Cargo says it will continue to operate all of its flights despite the walkout announced by the pilots’ union, Vereinigung Cockpit. The strike was set to ground all cargo flights scheduled to depart from Frankfurt on Wednesday and Thursday. Two flights will be departing earlier than scheduled, allowing them to bypass the strike period. As Lufthansa Cargo usually flies about half of its freight in the bellies of Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines passenger aircraft, the effects … [Read more...] about Business as usual for Lufthansa despite strike

Luft Cargo to see more job cuts and 4-day strike

February 19, 2010 by PLA Editor

Despite early signs of a recovery, Lufthansa Cargo is reportedly planning to to reduce its workforce by 10 per cent in 2010 in response to the steep declines in freight revenue and traffic in 2009 which pushed Lufthansa Cargo US$300 million into the red in the first nine months of the year from a $240 million profit in the same period in 2008. The carrier is also poised to swing into crisis management mode as Lufthansa pilots are set for a four-day strike from Monday. The cargo division said it … [Read more...] about Luft Cargo to see more job cuts and 4-day strike

Striking Air India pilots end crippling strike

October 2, 2009 by PLA Editor

Air India pilots ended their four-day wildcat strike yesterday after the government over-ruled management's plan for massive wage cuts impacting up to 7,000 employees. Loss-making, state-run Air India had canceled a quarter of its international and domestic flights and was working to suspend bookings on more flights as a result of striking pilots unhappy with a recent Air India Board decision to cut employee incentive payments by between 25 and 50 per cent. About 250 pilots refused to work since … [Read more...] about Striking Air India pilots end crippling strike
