BAA cargo dives 21 per cent in Feb
Britain's largest airports group suffered a saw cargo traffic plunge more than 20 per cent in February. BAA, which operates seven UK airports, including Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Edinburgh and Glasgow, said that its total UK cargo volumes had fallen by 21.4 per cent during February compared with the same month a year ago to 119,984 tonnes. Hong Kong cargo drops 29% in Jan
Air cargo through Hong Kong's airport dropped 28.9 per cent year-on-year in January to 210,000 tonnes, according to recent figures released by the airport authority. Almost all major markets experienced a double-digit decline during the month. While imports from Japan, Europe and Southeast Asia dropped most significantly, exports to Europe, North America and Taiwan showed the biggest dip. HK sees plummeting volumes
Hong Kong's December air cargo throughput plunged 29.7 per cent from a year earlier, on the back of weak global demand for Asian goods as a result of the deteriorating economic conditions in Western countries where many retailers were offering huge discounts to sell goods over the Christmas period.
