From 14 to 19 July 2025, government and industry leaders from around the world will gather in Singapore for a week-long series of high-level aviation meetings to chart the future of aviation together. This is the first time the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) is holding a High-Level Aviation Week, comprising a series of seven events over a week to cover a full range of aviation topics, ranging from the future of aviation, advanced air mobility, sustainability and aviation safety to human capital development strategies. It is a response to the fundamental changes to the global operating environment and its impact on aviation and the need for joined-up understanding and solutioning. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Secretary-General Mr Juan Carlos Salazar, Directors-General of Civil Aviation from over 25 countries and top industry executives are expected to attend the various meetings.
Shaping the Future of Aviation (Future of Aviation Roundtable, 16 July 2025)
Global aviation has long thrived on the foundations of open skies, free trade, and stability — underpinned by a rules-based international order and multilateral institutions. But the operating landscape has become more volatile. Heightened geopolitical tensions, economic fragmentation, and shifting trade patterns havepotential to redraw traffic flows, reconfigure supply chains, disrupt technology and airline partnerships. These developments challenge traditional business models and have far-reaching implications on network planning, investment decisions, and long-term strategy.
On 16 July 2025, CAAS will convene a closed-door high-level Future of Aviation Roundtable to discuss these developments, their impact on global aviation and how the industry can stay resilient and competitive. The Roundtable will be attended by the ICAO Secretary-General, Director-General of the International Air Transport Association, Director-General of the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation and senior executives from Boeing, Boston Consulting Group, Changi Airport Group, DHL, FedEx, International Centre for Aviation Innovation, McKinsey & Company, the Singapore Ministry of Transport, SATS and Singapore Airlines.
Facilitating Advanced Air Mobility (2nd Meeting of Asia-Pacific Regulators on Advanced Air Mobility, 14 July 2025)
With its many dense urban centres, growing connectivity needs and strong innovation and aviation ecosystem, the Asia-Pacific region is poised to be a key market for Advanced Air Mobility, which will transform the way we work, move, and live. Unmanned Aircraft Systems operations are expected to increase in volume and sophistication, spanning numerous beneficial applications. Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft operations are expected to begin in the region within the next few years.
On 14 July 2025, CAAS will convene the 2nd Meeting of Asia-Pacific Regulators on Advanced Air Mobility and Regulators-Industry Meeting. This will be attended by 27 Asia-Pacific States and Administrations and 20 Advanced Air Mobility companies and organisations. The Meeting will discuss for adoption and submission to ICAO the Reference Materials for regulators to facilitate Advanced Air Mobility operations whichhave been jointly developed by the Asia-Pacific States and Administration since the inaugural meeting in Singapore in November 2023. Closed-group industry consultation for these Reference Materials were conducted in November 2024 and public industry consultation was conducted in April 2025. The Meeting will also discuss plans to launch eVTOL operations in the region and how the region can work together to facilitate and benefit from these.
Advancing Sustainable Aviation (Roundtable on Advancing Sustainable Aviation, 14 July 2025)
Aviation is a critical enabler of the global economy but also a hard-to-abate sector for sustainability. On 10 July 2025, CAAS launched the Asia Pacific Sustainable Aviation Centre to advance sustainable aviation in the region and help States achieve both development and sustainability goals, through policy research, collaboration and capacity building. On 14 July 2025, CAAS, the Centre and major aviation, energy and green financing companies will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to support this. Later that day, CAAS, the Centre and its Advisory Council partners will hold the Roundtable on Advancing Sustainable Aviation with the ICAO Secretary-General and over 20 Directors-General of Civil Aviation on their plans for aviation sustainability and how the Centre can support them.
Ensuring Aviation Safety to Support Growth (3rd Asia Pacific Summit on Aviation Safety, 15 to 17 July 2025)
To enable growth, incorporate new technology and advance sustainability, assuring aviation safety for the travelling public is a key priority. This is especially pertinent with the spate of major aviation safety incidents around the world over the last one year. While individual investigations are ongoing and lessons gleaned, the aviation community needs to consider them in totality in the context of the operating landscape and their implications on safety.8 CAAS and the Flight Safety Foundation are jointly organising the 3rd Asia Pacific Summit on Aviation Safety with a particular focus on reinforcing safety fundamentals, anticipating and addressing emerging risks, building and maintaining a skilled aviation workforce, and developing safety management systems across the whole industry. Some 500 aviation leaders, regulators, executives and experts will attend the Summit.
Building a Quality Workforce; Enabling Opportunities Through Aviation (ICAO Asia-Pacific Regional Training Symposium, 16 to 17 July 2025; OneAviation Careers and Education Fair, 18 to 19 July)
As air traffic continues to navigate a new global operating environment to grow strongly, use new technology, operate safely and be more environmentally friendly, it is critical that we invest in our people to transform the sector and ensure that growth translates to good and inclusive career opportunities.
CAAS and ICAO will be jointly organising the first-ever ICAO Asia-Pacific Regional Training Symposium from 16 to 17 July 2025.The inaugural symposium provides a strategic platform to identify training needs and coordinate and enhance training provision across institutions within the Asia-Pacific region.
The High-Level Aviation Week will culminate in the 2025 OneAviation Careers and Education Fair which will be held on 18 and 19 July 2025. Themed “One Industry. Many Opportunities”, this year’s event brings together over 40 aviation companies, educational institutions and industry partners which will showcase the breadth of career opportunities in aviation. There will also be other experiential activities including simulators, drone soccer, and on-site live interview sessions. The previous fair held two years ago attracted over 10,000 attendees.12 CAAS and Workforce Singapore will also launch the Aviation Jobs Transformation Report at the OneAviation Careers and Education Fair. The Report is the product of a detailed sector-wide manpower study CAAS commissioned in March 2024 in partnership with Workforce Singapore, to map the Singapore aviation sector’s workforce, identify future trends impacting aviation skills needs and strategies to strengthen workforce development as the sector transforms over the next decade.
CAAS will be signing two Memoranda of Understanding with various aviation partners and Institutes of Higher Learning to strengthen pathways into the sector for young Singaporeans and empower mid-career job seekers to pursue aspirations in aviation and collaborate on sector-wide problem statements using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and to build up a pool of AI talent.
