Liège Airport reports strong summer growth as it co-hosts ACE Cargo Event 2025

September 10, 2025 by PLA Editor

As the global air cargo community gathers in Liège this week (8–11 September) for the ACE Cargo Event, co-organised by our airport, Liege Airport, and more specifically its logistics hub Cargoland, has every reason to stand out, with exceptional growth this summer: +14% tons handled in July (vs. July 2024) and +29% in August (vs. August 2024).

Liege Airport recorded solid performance in July and August, traditionally quieter months for the air cargo industry.

In July, more than 109,000 tons of cargo passed through the airport’s facilities (+14%), and August was even better with 111,500 tons (+29%).

Since the beginning of the year, almost 850,000 tons have already been handled via the Cargoland platform (an increase of 13%).

These results demonstrate Liege Airport’s ability to absorb a sharp increase in demand and sustain its growth momentum. The airport has confirmed its role as a key hub in the European cargo landscape.

Strong summer performance

• July 2025: 109,370 tons handled (+14%) and 2,464 aircraft movements (+9%);

• August 2025: 111,491 tons handled (+29%) and 2,354 aircraft movements (+9%).

Exceptional year-to-date results

• Cargo tonnage: 847,551 tons already processed (+13% vs 2024);

• Aircraft movements: 18,710 recorded (+8% vs 2024).

ACE Cargo Event
After the successful e-commerce summit organised at Liege Airport in September 2024 and gathering 1.000 participants from the worldwide air cargo industry, ACE event 2025 moves into the Palais des Congrès de Liège, in the heart of the Ardent City. For the first time, Liege Airport, Belgium’s premier cargo hub, will co-host this prestigious air cargo event in cooperation with the Neutral Air Partner association. ACE will bring together more than 450 international leaders in air cargo to exchange on new business models, strategies, and technologies. The event offers a high-level program providing a comprehensive overview of local, regional, and global trends, with a focus on innovation, digitalisation, and sustainability plus a full insight in the Cargoland hub developments and opportunities.
