Freight stumbles at Liege Airport in 2022

Liege Airport saw a ‘contrasted’ 2022 as the cargo airport saw freight demand fall whilst passenger numbers increased no thanks to the double whammy brought about by Covid and Ukraine conflict. 1.14 million tonnes of freight transited through the Belgian air hub, a 19 percent drop compared to figures seen in 2021. Liege Airport gears up for SAF

  Liege Airport is now ready to receive, store and distribute sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to airline partners, becoming the first airport in Belgium to announce such a feat. Icelandair expands at Liege with new 767-300BCF

  Icelandair is expanding its air freight operation at Liege Airport with the arrival of its first 767-300 Boeing Converted Freighter, nicknamed ‘Grimsey‘, on December 8. The carrier is adding 6 more flights per week from and to Liege Airport with three flights per week to New York and another three weekly flights to Chicago. Cainiao launches new express hub at Liege Airport

Alibaba logistics arm Cainiao Network is strengthening its logistics infrastructure in Europe with the opening of its first warehouse located at Liege Airport in Belgium. The 30,000-sqm warehouse is divided into two parts: a 12,000-sqm air cargo station for the rapid transit of goods for both export and import between the airside and the landside of the airport, and a 18,000-sqm parcel sorting center.
