All signals are green at Liege Airport (LGG), with a steady increase in both aircraft movements and cargo volumes during the third quarter. For July, August, and September 2025, the airport recorded a robust 23% increase in tonnage compared to the same period in 2024. Aircraft movements grew by 9%.
Both in the short term and even since the last two years, a longer period, Liege Airport is performing very well, as explained by CEO Laurent Jossart: “For Q3 2025, our air cargo community processed 334,956 tons of freight, representing a significant and robust 23% growth (272,210 tons in Q3 2024). Year to date Liege Airport is showing a growth of 14,4%.”
The growth of the last quarter was fueled by healthy flows of e-commerce for the import side but also by the robustness of the European exports flown via Liege Airport with a quarterly growth of +26% vs. last year. This progression mirrors the increasing importance of Liege Airport for the European export industry.
In terms of aircraft movements, 7,262 cargo flights were operated, an increase of 9% compared to the same quarter in 2024 (6,691 cargo flights).
Europe’s leading “full freighter” airport
Another remarkable achievement is the consolidation of the leadership position of LGG in the air cargo industry reached in 2025: “We’ve reached a new milestone. Over the first nine months of the year, on top of our leadership position in three verticals being flower, e-commerce and horses, our airport became the Europe’s leading “full freighter” airport, with a total of 961,640 tons of air cargo passing through our facilities.” added Laurent Jossart.
Finally, over a longer period—between 2019 and 2024—France Aviation Civile Services recently published its global air traffic survey. Among cargo airports, Liege Airport ranks in the world’s top 5 freight growth, with an increase of 29%.
“This performance confirms our strategy of being a sustainable, efficient and multimodal European logistics hub” concluded Laurent Jossart.
