Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) published the Annual Report 2025/26 for the fiscal year ended 31 March 2026. During the year, Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) sustained growth momentum across all key traffic categories. Passenger traffic increased by a double-digit 14.7% year on year to 63 million, while flight movements rose by 7.1% to 399,450. Cargo throughput grew by 2.7% year on year to 5.1 million tonnes, reinforcing its position as the world’s busiest cargo airport for the 15th time since 2010. The increases underscore HKIA’s position as Asia’s hub of aviation.
AAHK delivered a sound financial performance in 2025/26, recording a post-tax profit of HK$2,043 million. The Board declared a dividend of HK$500 million payable to the Hong Kong SAR Government.
Fred Lam, Chairman of AAHK, said, “The 15th Five-Year Plan supports Hong Kong in consolidating and enhancing its status as an international aviation hub. Over the past year, HKIA continued to make progress in strengthening its role as a leading international aviation hub, while laying the foundation for future development. With the Three-runway System providing capacity for long-term traffic growth, and key components of SKYTOPIA advancing, HKIA is entering a new phase of development.”
HKIA further expanded its global air network during the year, adding 26 new destinations, mainly in emerging markets along the Belt and Road. By the end of 2025/26, there were around 140 airlines operating at HKIA, connecting Hong Kong with more than 220 destinations worldwide.
Passenger services crossed another milestone during the year with the commencement of the phased opening of the expanded Terminal 2 (T2). The Coach Hall at T2 opened in September 2025 for cross-boundary coach and limousine services, followed by the commissioning of the new terminal’s departures facilities in May 2026.
HKIA has further enhanced its services for passengers from the Greater Bay Area (GBA) by expanding its City Terminal network to 38 locations during the year, with the network having since grown to 41 as of June 2026, providing passengers with convenient access to check-in and related services before travelling to HKIA for international flights. AAHK also launched the innovative intermodal service ‘‘Park & Fly’’ in November 2025. The service allows air passengers from designated cities in Guangdong and Macao to drive their own vehicles to the automated car park at the Hong Kong Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) before flying at HKIA to destinations around the world.
While continuing to enhance its facilities, HKIA introduced a range of initiatives to enrich passenger experience and encourage more passengers to transfer through Hong Kong. These included the launch of free tours for transfer passengers with a layover of at least seven hours to explore Hong Kong’s historic neighbourhood, iconic waterfront and cultural attractions. HKIA also introduced a series of cultural workshops for passengers to create Hong Kong-themed keepsakes that add a unique cultural dimension to their airport experience.
To reinforce HKIA’s position as the world’s leading air cargo hub, AAHK continued to enhance handling capabilities through strategic investments in facilities and operating models. The HKIA Dongguan Logistics Park (HKIALP) enables security screening, palletisation, and acceptance of export cargo from the GBA to be completed in Dongguan. The cargo is then shipped directly to HKIA’s airside by sea for onward transshipment to overseas destinations. International shipments can also enter the Chinese mainland via HKIA and HKIALP. By the end of 2025/26, there were 30 airlines and 144 Hong Kong agents operating in HKIALP, with both cargo tonnage and value recording growth of more than 90% year on year. Phase 1 of the permanent facility at HKIALP is expected to be fully operational in 2027. During the year, HKIA also launched the Air-Land Fresh Lane, streamlining the transshipment of fruits, chilled goods and live seafood into the Chinese Mainland via the HZMB, significantly improving transport efficiency and reliability.
AAHK continued to advance the development of SKYTOPIA’s key projects in 2025/26. Construction of the 20,000-seat performance arena, as part of AsiaWorld-Expo’s Phase 2 development, started during the year and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2028. A specialist operator has been appointed for the Art & Valuables Storage Facility, set to open for business in 2027. To support Hong Kong’s development of the yachting economy, AAHK launched the Yacht Bay project and invited global investors and partners to submit expressions of interest. The Airportcity Link, Hong Kong’s first autonomous mass transportation system, is scheduled to commence service in 2026/27. The system will significantly enhance connectivity for GBA visitors travelling between airport island and the Hong Kong Port of the HZMB. Construction of the Airport Tung Chung Link (ATCL) has also commenced. Scheduled for completion in 2028/29, the ATCL will connect SKYTOPIA with Tung Chung town centre and further strengthen connectivity between the airport, neighbouring communities, and nearby commercial and hotel developments.
