Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), the world’s busiest cargo hub, received several prestigious international accolades in recognition of its excellence in cargo services, innovations, and sustainability.
At the 13th Payload Asia Awards held in Singapore, HKIA received two prestigious honours, including “Global Airport of the Year”, the top award in the airport category, and “Air Cargo Technology Provider of the Year”. It is the fourth consecutive year that HKIA was honoured by Payload Asia Awards for its technology.
HKIA was commended for its digital transformation through the “Hong Kong Import and Export Trade Declaration (TDEC) Application”. By sharing cargo information across digital platforms at HKIA, the application minimises repetitive data entry when making trade declarations, providing a more integrated, hassle-free and technology-driven experience for the air cargo community.
This year’s Payload Asia Awards recognised organisations for making exceptional progress in advancing sustainability and efficiency through digitalisation in the aviation and logistics sectors. Winners were decided through evaluation by an expert panel, in addition to online votes.
Steven Yiu, Chief Operating Officer of Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK), said, “We are delighted to receive these recognitions from the global industry for our cargo performance. To maintain our leading position in a highly competitive market, we will redouble efforts to enhance HKIA’s cargo capabilities and efficiency through continuous innovations and technology. With enhanced capacity provided by the three-runway system, AAHK is committed to strengthening HKIA’s position as the hub of Asia and the world’s busiest cargo airport, while adding impetus to the economic growth of Hong Kong and the region.”
