Kerry Logistics Network has secured a contract with House of Fraser, the UK and Ireland’s department store group, to support the retailer’s store and e-commerce expansion into China through the course of 2016.
Kerry Logistics will operate more than 9,000 square metres of warehousing for the group in Shanghai, providing import agency services, import customs brokerage, and domestic distribution and e-fulfillment.
Value-added services will range from re-conditioning of consumer returns to product localisation.
Tony Carr, executive director, Supply Chain and International, House of Fraser, said: “We are extremely pleased to be partnering with Kerry Logistics for our China distribution services, for both our stores and online proposition. Their expertise and local knowledge will be invaluable as we establish a presence in the region and bring our premium shopping experience to the consumers in China.”
House of Fraser is set to open stores across China, with the first three in Nanjing, Chongqing, and Xuzhou, and they also plan to launch an on-line portal in the country as part of ongoing expansion plans following its acquisition by Sanpower Group last year.
Emma Rowlands, UK sales director, Kerry Logistics, said: “We are delighted to be working with the House of Fraser team and supporting this great British brand as it expands into China.
“China is an exciting market and we have the right local expertise and experience, as well as the facilities and assets to support House of Fraser’s launch there.”
