FedEx Express has taken delivery of its first of 15 Boeing 777 Freighters it has on order with at least four of these serving Asia to US routes by April 2010. Air cargo upturn underway, but “fragileâ€Â
Signs of a clear, but fragile recovery in air cargo demand are being driven by companies restocking inventories which have run low, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) said on Thursday. While woes continue to beset its 787 Dreamliner project, Boeing is continuing to mark the numerous milestones in the assembly of its first 747-8 Freighter. AMERICAS: Boeing finds new problem in 787
Boeing has halted production of 787 Dreamliner fuselage sections at the Alenia Aeronautica, a subsidiary of Finmeccanica, factory in Italy after new flaws were found in the aircraft’s lightweight carbon composite fuselage. Boeing found microscopic wrinkles in the skin of the 787’s fuselage and ordered its Italian supplier to stop making sections on June 23, a Boeing spokesperson said this week.
