Governments, industry and environmental groups meeting at the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) have finalised the design of the first global certification standard for CO2 emissions from new aircraft. Brussels cargo still depressed over Ethiopian departure
Brussels Airport (BRU) saw freight volumes declining by 2.4 per cent in January 2016 compared with last year, as a result of the ongoing impact of the departure of Ethiopian Cargo, which did not obtain the necessary traffic rights for Belgium and ceased operations to the airport in the fourth quarter last year. Finnair Cargo has signed an agreement with Mercator, leading provider of software and technology-led solutions to the global aviation industry, for its air cargo management solution, SkyChain. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) released figures for global air freight markets showing cargo volumes measured in freight tonne kilometers (FTKs) expanded 2.2 per cent in 2015 compared to 2014.
