LAN Cargo has signed an agreement to outsource the repair and maintenance of its ULDs and pallets at Miami International Airport to CHEP Aerospace Solutions. Airbus has begun final assembly of the first A350-900 for Singapore Airlines at its facilities in Toulouse, France. The aircraft is the first of 70 A350 XWBs ordered by the airline and is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2016. PAL bans lithium-ion batteries as cargo
Flag carrier Philippine Airlines has joined other international carriers in banning the shipment of lithium ion batteries due to the potential fire hazards posed by such type of cargo. Cathay, Dragonair April cargo traffic up 5.2%
Cathay Pacific and Dragonair carried 144,579 tonnes of cargo and mail last month, an increase of 5.2 per cent compared to the same month last year. The cargo and mail load factor fell by 0.5 percentage points to 62.6 per cent. Capacity, measured in available cargo/mail tonne kilometres, rose by 7.3 per cent while cargo and mail revenue tonne kilometres (RTKs) flown increased by 6.3 per cent.
