First quarterly loss in six years for SIA
Singapore Airlines has posted its first quarterly loss since 2003, with a S$307.1 million (US$212.6 million) loss that compared to a S$358.6 million profit in the fiscal first quarter of 2008-09. The global economic downturn, swine flu and unfavorable fuel hedges dragged the carrier into the red. Air France-KLM posts €431 million Q1 loss
Air France-KLM Group, Europe’s biggest airline, posted a first-quarter loss as the recession continued to take its toll on passenger traffic and cargo handling. The net loss was €431 million compared with net income of €132 million a year earlier. Boeing wins US$1.3 billion order from Ethiopian
Boeing and Ethiopian Airlines have announced an order for five Boeing 777-200LRs, worth an estimated US$1.3 billion at list prices making it the largest order of the year for Boeing. With the order, Ethiopian Airlines becomes the first African carrier to order and operate the ultra-long-range 777-200LR model.
