In the face of a dire air cargo market, Frankfurt Hahn-based start-up Air Cargo Germany (ACG) has received its air operator’s certificate (AOC) from the German authorities and is expected to start operations shortly. Air Canada clears last labour hurdle
Cash-strapped Air Canada has cleared the last hurdle in its attempt to avoid a second bankruptcy filing, following the carrier's last holdout union approval of a new labor contract that contains no raises or pension payments for 21 months. Canada's main airline, a unit of ACE Aviation Holdings Inc., now has wage and pension agreements with all five of its Canadian unions that will save Air Canada precious cash and more importantly meet the conditions neccesary for getting new financing. Four Indonesian carriers off EU 'black-list'
The European Commission has released its eleventh update of the Community’s list of airlines banned in the European Union with good news for four Indonesian carriers which have been removed from the so-called 'black-list'. “Brutal” cargo market, but AF-KLM cargo stabilising
The head of Air France-KLM said last week that Europe’s biggest airline is considering part-time jobs or temporary layoffs to combat the “brutal†situation in cargo and passenger demand. No repeat of May’s up-tick for Lufthansa
Lufthansa Cargo’s freight volumes fell 14.1 per cent in June to 128,000 tonnes from a year ago, similar to other European cargo carriers, but ending a brief burst of optimism in May when its volumes improved to only a -9.1 per cent drop year-on-year. The drop in June volume left traffic in the first six months of the year down 20.1 per cent from the same period last year at 694,000 tonnes. Japan’s two largest airlines saw their declines in international cargo volumes continue to slow in May. Japan Airlines, the country's largest carrier said that its international cargo volume declined for the 10th consecutive month in May, falling 21.7 per cent to 40,079 tonnes, year-on-year, a significant improvement on the 28.7 per cent plummet recorded in April.
