Japan’s two largest airlines saw their declines in international cargo volumes continue to slow in May. Japan Airlines, the country’s largest carrier said that its international cargo volume declined for the 10th consecutive month in May, falling 21.7 per cent to 40,079 tonnes, year-on-year, a significant improvement on the 28.7 per cent plummet recorded in April. Japan’s second-largest air carrier, All Nippon Airways, said that its international cargo volume declined for the seventh consecutive month in May on a year-on-year basis. ANA transported 23,532 tonnes of cargo on international routes in May, down 14.7 per cent which was marginally better than the April decline of 15.9 per cent.
