IATA pessimistic on cargo growth this year

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has released a pessimistic view on air cargo growth saying, “it is shaping up to be another tough year for air cargo” pointing to the latest 2.0 per cent drop in volumes against a 6.9 per cent rise in capacity. Asia-Pacific carrier, in particular, saw a 5.2 per cent decline in demand in March compared with a year ago. Healthy Q1 for UPS, Asia export growth offsets US softness

UPS today announced its first-quarter 2016 international operating profit increased 15 per cent to US$574 million. Total revenue was $14.4 billion, up 3.2 per cent over the same quarter last year. Revenue growth was slowed by lower fuel surcharges and currency exchange rates, the company said.  On a currency-neutral basis, revenue increased 3.7 per cent.  Lower fuel surcharge rates reduced revenue growth by approximately 150 basis points. Amazon makes further move into European logistics

Amazon has today announced the launch of its Pan-European Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) programme. This new service will help sellers of any size export to millions of Amazon customers across the EU more efficiently than ever before, the e-tailing giant said in a statement.  Amazon customers in turn will be able to receive thousands of new products from sellers across the EU, while benefitting from faster shipping times and lower delivery costs. SF Express gets CAAC approval on Wuhan air hub

SF Express, the largest private express logistics firm in China, is set to build cargo air hub in central China after an airport site-selection report was approved by Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). A freight airport is expected to be built at the town of Yanji, about 75 km east of Wuhan, the capital of central Hubei province, according to a China Daily report. Frankfurt aims to be Europe´s largest CEIV certified pharma hub

Frankfurt is aiming to become the largest certified pharmaceutical gateway in Europe with a number of companies concurrently pursing the IATA CEIV Pharma certification with the support of the Air Cargo Community Frankfurt.
