Lynden Air Cargo’s L-100 Hercules aircraft is being put to use flying relief supplies to Vanuatu after Tropical Cyclone Pam devastated the South Pacific Islands earlier this month. Hainan Airlines buys 30 B787-9s
China’s fourth-largest carrier said it plans to order 30 B787-9 aircraft as it seeks to expand international routes to tap into growing demand for overseas travel from China. The order would be the biggest this year for the jet, worth US$7.7 billion according to list prices. It would also boost the aircraft maker’s 787 programme backlog to 855 planes. TNT has opened a new transport hub in Heerlen, the Netherlands, dedicated to the shipping of medical devices to European hospitals and clinics. The 2,000 sqm facility is located near the European distribution centres of 80 major medical device manufacturers. In service 24 hours a day, seven days a week, it will consolidate medtech shipments from multinationals and SMEs. Finnair to build new cargo terminal
Finnair plans to invest approximately €80 million (US$87.76 million) into a new cargo terminal at Helsinki Airport, near the airline’s technical operations area. Construction of the 377,000-square-foot facility is to begin immediately, with opening anticipated for spring 2017.
