Americas : Continental slides into the red, defers deliveries

Continental Airlines yesterday reported a third-quarter net loss of US$236 million, reversed from a US$241 million profit a year earlier. The carrier also announced that it has pushed back delivery of 18 aircraft scheduled to arrive over the next two years. Americas : United posts huge 3Q loss on fuel and slowdown

Stung by nearly US$1 billion in higher jet fuel costs, United Airlines’ parent UAL has reported a third-quarter net loss of US$779 million. The airline said the loss was due to high fuel prices during the quarter and accounting charges related to markdowns in the value of some fuel hedging contracts after oil prices fell sharply by the end of the period. Americas : 6 US carriers gain access to Russia

Six US carriers have received tentative approval from the US Transportation Department (DOT) to begin offering third country, code-share service to Russia.
