Cologne Bonn Airport saw record air cargo growth in 2014, handling 753,000 tonnes, a 2 per cent increase on 2013. Lufthansa expands use of biofuel in 2015
Lufthansa is set to expand their bioduel efforts to a new airport for 2015. Beginning in March, Lufthansa will begin to use a blended biofuel kerosene on all flights that depart from Oslo, Norway. This will cover nearly 5,000 departures from Oslo flown by Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian, Brussels and Germanwings. The blended fuel will be provided Statoil, a Norwegian energy company. Indonesia AirAsia, the budget operator of the A320 flying as QZ8501 that crashed into the Java Sea on 27 December 2014 was not licensed to fly the Surabaya-Singapore route on Sundays, the day it crashed, resulting in a route suspension by Indonesian authorities.
