Striking Air India pilots end crippling strike

Air India pilots ended their four-day wildcat strike yesterday after the government over-ruled management's plan for massive wage cuts impacting up to 7,000 employees. Loss-making, state-run Air India had canceled a quarter of its international and domestic flights and was working to suspend bookings on more flights as a result of striking pilots unhappy with a recent Air India Board decision to cut employee incentive payments by between 25 and 50 per cent. INDIA: Air India bail out, but with conditions

The Indian government has said it will help bail out the ailing state-owned carrier, Air India, but said it must restructure and cut costs and asked the National Aviation Company of India Ltd (Nacil) to present a restructuring plan for Air India within 30 days. Air India to build Hyderabad MRO facility

In a bid to establish itself as a key player in the Indian MRO market, Air India has acquired five acres of land at the new Shamshabad Airport in Hyderabad where it is about to begin building a new MRO facility. Air India restructures and replaces MD as losses soar

The Indian government has suggested sharp cutbacks in routes, changes in aircraft deployment and flight timings to reduce losses in National Aviation Company of India Ltd (Nacil) — the state-owned company that runs Air India.
