Brussels Airport remains locked down today after dual terrorist attacks struck BRU and the Maelbeek Metro station in the Belgium capital yesterday killing at least 30 and wounding more than 200. Brussels Airport (BRU) saw freight volumes declining by 2.4 per cent in January 2016 compared with last year, as a result of the ongoing impact of the departure of Ethiopian Cargo, which did not obtain the necessary traffic rights for Belgium and ceased operations to the airport in the fourth quarter last year. Brussels Airport wrapped up 2015 with a year of strong growth on both the passenger side (up 7.0 per cent) and cargo with a full 7.8 per cent growth over the previous year thanks to the full freighter and express segments.
