Boeing delivered Etihad Airways’ first 787-9 Dreamliner sporting the airline’s new “Facets of Abu Dhabi” livery which was revealed at a ceremony earlier this year. The colours are reminiscent of the desert landscape, inspired by the culture, Islamic design and architecture motifs of the United Arab Emirates. Etihad doubles freight volume to Melbourne

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has announced plans for a second daily non-stop service between Abu Dhabi and Melbourne from 1 August 2015.  The additional flight will be operated by a B777-300ER aircraft. Swiss regional carrier Darwin Airline has formally complained to the country’s Competition Commission (COMCO), alleging abusive and anti-competitive behaviour by Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS).   Early this year, Darwin announced it had reached an agreement with Etihad Airways for the rapidly expanding Abu Dhabi-based carrier to take a 33.3 per cent stake in Darwin, subject to regulatory approval. Etihad sees surge in cargo in Q3

Etihad Airways' total cargo tonnage rose 9 per cent, year-over-year, in the third quarter of this year, which helped boost overall revenues at the UAE flag-carrier by 29 per cent. The carrier’s Etihad Cargo subsidiary shipped a total of 144,498 tonnes in Q3, bringing in revenue of $US$284 million, a 16 per cent increase, year-over-year, with just 1 per cent capacity growth. Etihad forms alliance across six airlines

Etihad Airways has launched its own globe-striding alliance network, called Etihad Airways Partners, with five Etihad partners, along with the Gulf carrier, as founding members. airberlin, Air Seriba, Air Seychelles, Jet Airways, Darwin Airline and Etihad Airways will be the initial six airlines within the new partnership.
