XPO acquires Norbert Dentressangle
XPO Logistics has completed the first of two phases in its US$3.53 billion acquisition of France's Norbert Dentressangle. Norbert Dentressangle’s founder and his family divested their 67 per cent share of the company to XPO at price of 217.50 euros per share. Forwarders more upbeat about airfreight than sea
The Stifel Logistics Confidence Index for May indicated some improvements from April’s decline. In particular, the six-month outlook appears bright as airfreight gained 2.8 points to 63.4 and sea freight increased 2.1 points to 62.9. Overall, the total index increased 1.1 points to 57.4. ACI: Slowed air freight growth in March
According to the latest statistics from Airports Council International (ACI) World, global air freight volumes grew 1.4 per cent for the month of March, although the first quarter saw an overall increase of 4.7 per cent year over year. There was an average of three major cargo crimes a day targeting high value, theft-attractive products in the supply chain in Europe in 2014 with an average loss of €205,624, according to the Transported Asset Protection Association’s (TAPA) 2014 Incident Information Service (IIS) Annual Report for the EMEA region.
