IATA pessimistic on cargo growth this year

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has released a pessimistic view on air cargo growth saying, “it is shaping up to be another tough year for air cargo” pointing to the latest 2.0 per cent drop in volumes against a 6.9 per cent rise in capacity. Asia-Pacific carrier, in particular, saw a 5.2 per cent decline in demand in March compared with a year ago. ATC union delivers “kick in the teeth” to Brussels Airport

Belgian air traffic controllers significantly disrupted flights at Brussels airport yesterday when they implemented a wildcat strike action at the height of the evening ‘rush hour’ Tuesday night.  The action followed their union’s rejection of a compromise aimed at solving a conflict over a pension reform. The strike action comes at a time when traffic was already reduced at the airport in the wake of the March 22 attacks. AF-KLM’s de Juniac to fill Tyler’s shoes at IATA

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced a decision of its Board of Governors (BoG), unanimously approved at an IATA BoG meeting today, to recommend Alexandre de Juniac, chairman and CEO of Air France-KLM, to succeed retiring director general and CEO, Tony Tyler. With confirmation by the IATA Annual General Meeting to be held 1-3 June 2016 in Dublin, Ireland, de Juniac will take up duties as the head of the association after a short handover period. PACTL obtains CEIV Pharma certification

The new cool chain infrastructure at Shanghai Pudong Int’l Airport Cargo Terminal Co., Ltd. (PACTL) has successfully completed the validation process to obtain the International Air Transport Association's (IATA’s) Center of Excellence for Independent Validators (CEIV) in Pharmaceutical Logistics.
