South Korean LCC Jin Air Co. will launch new international flights in the second half of 2014 as part of its strategy to expand its footprint in the airline industry. The wholly owned budget unit of Korean Air Lines Co. will start semi-weekly flights linking Jeju Island to China’s Xian and Quanzhou starting on 2 October. Jetstar deploys new B787s on Japan routes
Jetstar last week began using its most recent B787 delivery to replace an A330 on service from Cairns to Osaka, Japan. The low-cost carrier (LCC) also introduced a B787 on its Cairns-Tokyo route in August, and on its Gold Coast-Tokyo flight in July. Cebu Pacific, Tiger Phils set sights on Myanmar
Philippine-based budget carrier Cebu Pacific and unit Tiger Airways Philippines are seeking approval from the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) to launch flights to Myanmar. Cebu Pacific is seeking 1,260 weekly seats for flights between Manila and Yangon, while Tigerair Philippines has filed a separate application with CAB seeking 1,260 weekly seats for the route.
