Qantas launches weekly Dallas freighter service

Qantas Freight today announced it will introduce a weekly freighter service to the southern US freight gateway of Dallas Fort Worth as part of its triangular route connecting Australia, China, the US and Australia. Qantas Freight offers four weekly B747-400F freighter services operated by Atlas Air and from 9 June 2016 one of these services will make a new stop at Dallas Fort Worth every Thursday morning. Virgin Australia, TNT do contract on domestic cargo

TNT Express awarded what is expected to be a US$575 million, five-year contract to Virgin Australia for domestic cargo transport which has prompted Virgin Australia to wet lease three freighters for the job. Qantas posts best profit since before the GFC

Qantas today announced its strongest profit since before the Global Financial Crisis and an order for eight B787-9 aircraft, to be delivered from calendar year 2017 to gradually replace five older B747s to start a "new era" for Qantas International. Qantas has returned to profitability in the six months ended 31 December 2009 after posting losses in the January-June half of 2009. Qantas posted a net profit of A$58 million (US$52 million) and $6.9 billion in revenue for the half year, compared to a net profit of $210 million and $8 billion in revenue for the same period 2008. Swissport handling Qantas at Heathrow

Swissport International has been appointed by Qantas Freight to provide cargo ground handling services at London Heathrow Airport. Operations started in mid-September.
