Etihad Cargo has announced three new freighter services from Europe. Last month Etihad Cargo started operating B777 freighters from East Midlands and Stansted airports in the UK and from Copenhagen in Denmark. London Stansted sees busy July
London Stansted enjoyed a busy July with cargo operations benefitting from the chaos at the Channel Tunnel and the passenger side seeing the busiest July in seven years, as the launch of Thomas Cook’s trio of new long haul flights and the summer holiday season helped contribute to over two million passengers passing through the airport. Heathrow sees June cargo improvement
London Heathrow reported a drop in cargo traffic of 14.5 per cent in June from a year ago to 103,400 tonnes, an improvement on the 19.2 per cent drop in May. London Stansted, similarly reported a traffic drop of 14.8 per cent in June to 15,271 tonnes, a slight improvement on the 15.4 per cent decline in May. BAA accuses competition authorities of bias
UK airports operator BAA has said it will appeal the UK Competition Commission’s ruling that it must sell both London Gatwick and Stansted and either Edinburgh or Glasgow International, claiming the decision was both “affected by apparent bias†and failed to account for the current economic climate.
