SWISS has appointed Ashwin Bhat as its new head of cargo. He will assume his new duties on 1 October. Bhat, who is currently head of global area management at SWISS’s Swiss WorldCargo division, succeeds Oliver Evans, who has decided to step down from the post after some 13 years. SWISS renames its European subsidiary
Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) has renamed its Swiss European Air Lines subsidiary, the operator of its Avro RJ100 fleet. The company will now be known as Swiss Global Air Lines. Lufthansa expands use of biofuel in 2015
Lufthansa is set to expand their bioduel efforts to a new airport for 2015. Beginning in March, Lufthansa will begin to use a blended biofuel kerosene on all flights that depart from Oslo, Norway. This will cover nearly 5,000 departures from Oslo flown by Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian, Brussels and Germanwings. The blended fuel will be provided Statoil, a Norwegian energy company. Lufthansa says pilot strike will not affect cargo
Thousands of Lufthansa flights have been cancelled after a pilots' union staged a 21-hour walkout Tuesday. The ongoing labour dispute has already cost the German carrier hundreds of millions of euros. On the other hand, the cargo arm of Lufthansa said in a press statement that it will still operate 100 per cent of its scheduled flights.
