In Brazil’s Campinas International Airport, sits a new UPS cargo storage and distribution center that serves to increase domestic demand for shipping services, targeting customers in the industrial manufacturing, healthcare, and technology industries. The center has been running successfully for a year, and is celebrating their success.
“This new facility is part of our domestic expansion strategy to support the growth of our customers. Its strategic proximity to Viracopos/Campinas International Airport, one of the country’s main cargo hubs, and other major highways, have allowed faster handling and time-in-transit, processing 500 shipments per day,” said Daniel Souza, operations and customs clearance manager for UPS Brazil. “Additionally, we’re better able to serve our entire domestic territory, reaching 5,000 cities throughout Brazil. As part of our global smart logistics network, we’re offering eight weekly flights for international service between Viracopos to Miami, FL, Argentina, Chile and Paraguay.”
Inaugurated in April 2017, the new hub increased UPS’s daily volume capacity by 17 percent as it now serves as a location to consolidate the company’s express shipments and supply chain solutions divisions. The UPS Campinas distribution center features state-of-the-art technology, such as Global Scanning System (GSS), a smart scanner technology which immediately uploads shipment information to the company’s system. The technology not only provides customers with greater visibility over their shipments, but also compiles operational data that helps UPS plan faster time-in-transit and cost-effective routes.
“Brazil is a key market for industries such as healthcare, high-tech and industrial manufacturing. UPS’s capabilities help customers in these sectors create more efficient supply chains that generate further growth for their businesses,” said Nadir Moreno, country manager for UPS Brazil.
The Campinas distribution center is the company’s latest addition to its portfolio of 23 facilities nationwide. Other UPS™ package operations centers are strategically located in other states in Brazil, such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Rio Grande do Sul.
