RUSSIA: EMEX expands express network

Russian express company EMEX has announced major expansion plans to extend its network and offer new services. It aims to double turnover this year and in 2008. EMEX will open a new branch in Novosibirsk, its 25th office, and aims to have 35 branch offices and agencies across Russia by the end of this year. Established in 2003 with a single office in Moscow, the company now has outlets in most major Russian cities as well as a network of agents covering various regions. CHINA: Jade Cargo adds Frankfurt, Houston

China’s all-cargo carrier Jade Cargo International has added three weekly Frankfurt frequencies to its network of European destinations. Jade Cargo’s fourth B747-400ERF was delivered at the end of May 2007 and put into service on a two-way non-stop servicebetween Shenzhen and Frankfurt. CHINA: UPS to increase capacity to Shanghai

UPS, which is scheduled to open its new hub in Shanghai next year, will increase cargo capacity to the Chinese city by switching its planes from the MD-11s in current service to Boeing 747-400s. The new hub will be built on a one million square foot site. When it opens, it will operate around the clock, throughout the year. Global' supply chains often aren't global

Nearly half (48 percent) of supply chain executives at multi-national companies in the chemical, consumer goods, industrial and retail sectors consider their supply chains to be global, yet operating decisions made on behalf of those supply chains would indicate otherwise.
