Cargolux has achieved an all-time record performance in block hours, cycles and tonnage during November 2014. Block hours have exceeded 10,000 hours a month for the first time in the company’s history and reached 10,224 hours, 8.7 per cent higher than in November 2013. HKIA sets record for cargo in November
Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) set a new monthly record for cargo tonnage throughput in November 2014. During the month, cargo volume rose by 5.5 per cent year on year to reach 421,000 tonnes. Continued growth was also seen in other traffic categories during the month, in which HKIA handled 5.1 million passengers and 32,920 flight movements, registering growth of 5.4 per cent and 4.0 per cent, respectively, over the same period last year. Qatar adds three freighter destinations
Qatar Airways Cargo has commenced operations to three new freighter destinations, Lagos, Accra and Guangzhou, with all three routes being served by the A330 freighter. Freighters to Lagos and Accra commenced on December 6. IATA: Tonnage up but rates to shrink in 2015
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced an outlook for improved industry profitability in its Economic Performance of the Air Transport Industry report. Airlines are expected to post a collective global net profit in 2014 of some US$19.9 billion (up from the US$18.0 billion projected in June). This looks set to rise to US$25.0 billion in 2015. Transaero launches cargo service to Beijing
Transaero Airlines has launched cargo services between Russia and China. Transaero, being the designated scheduled carrier on the Beijing-Novosibirsk route, delivered 22.4 tonnes of mail while performing the first flight on this route using Tu-204C aircraft.
