Cargo decline slows in June at Frankfurt
Europe’s busiest air cargo hub, Frankfurt airport, has reported a slowing decline in cargo traffic in June. Frankfurt handled 148,211 tonnes of cargo in June, a 16.5 per cent drop from a year earlier that followed year-on-year declines of 17.1 per cent and 24.9 per cent in May and April respectively. Hong Kong sees cargo stabilisation
Hong Kong Airport’s two major freight handlers, Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Ltd (HACTL) and Asia Airfreight Terminal (AAT), have both reported clear signs of a stabilisation in cargo volumes and are hopeful that the beginning of a recovery is underway. China posts 7.9% GDP growth for second month
China has reported a 7.9 per cent year-on-year growth in its estimated gross domestic product (GDP) for the second quarter, spurred by a government economic stimulus package. The April-June figure was up from 6.1 per cent in the first quarter and took China's GDP growth to 7.1 per cent for the first six months of this year compared with the same period last year, according to the country's National Bureau of Statistics. Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) has said it is the first cargo handler to offer independent certified cargo screening facility (ICSF) locations in more than one state in the US after its Pittsburgh International Airport operation was certified by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
