Taipei permits forwarders to consolidate multi-country cargo
Taiwan has passed a law to allow the country’s freight forwarders to operate multi-country consolidation, which could see the amount of cargo through Taiwan increase by 600,000 tonnes and made the country a logistics hub for Europe, America and Southeast Asia. CEVA Logistics has expanded its Los Angeles (LAX)/Torrance freight management operation. Iceland volcano threatens Eyjafjallajökull repeat
The Icelandic Met Office in mid-August raised its aviation alert level to ‘orange’ as a result of activity in the Bardarbunga volcano, following a major earthquake, the largest in the area since 1996. On the five-color scale, orange sits one level below red, which denotes an active eruption, or one that is imminent. SkyCargo launches weekly Basel maindeck service
Emirates SkyCargo is set to further strengthen trade lanes between Switzerland and its worldwide network with the introduction of a weekly freighter service from Basel to Dubai starting 21 September 2014.
