The International Air Transport Association (IATA) released data for global air freight markets showing that growth continued to slow in May. Compared to May 2014, growth in freight tonne kilometers (FTK) was 2.1 per cent, the slowest rate this year and outpaced by a capacity expansion of 4.3 per cent. AEI announces B737-800SF launch customer

Aeronautical Engineers, Inc. (AEI) has announced that GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) will be the launch customer for the AEI B737-800SF programme. GECAS plans to convert up to 20 of its Boeing 737-800NG passenger aircraft to freighters. The first aircraft is scheduled for conversion starting in 2016 and will achieve FAA supplemental type certification (STC) in 2017. ST, Airbus, EFW launch A320/A321 conversions

ACMG: Market needs 125 new freighters per year

Demand for freighter aircraft continues to trend higher, according to a newly-released forecast issued by the Air Cargo Management Group (ACMG). According the ACMG, the air freight market will need about 125 new freighters per year to meet growth and replacement needs over the next 20 years in a ‘baseline-growth; scenario, which is based on 4.5 per cent annual growth in demand.
