P&W, China Eastern to open MRO facility in ’09

A new engine maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) business is being established in Shanghai under a joint venture between Pratt & Whitney (P&W) and China Eastern Airlines. The facility, designed to handle CFM International CFM56 engines, was originally slated to be operational in 2008, but the process was delayed due to issues associated with the Beijing Olympics and earthquakes in China, according to P&W. Japan Airlines International has officially launched “JAL Mighty”, a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system for aviation maintenance. IBM Japan, IBM Business Consulting Services and SAP Japan Co., Ltd collaborated on the project to create a system to manage maintenance planning, quality control and parts inventory for approximately 160 aircraft, 460 engines, and 500,000parts. Air Works gets Indian gov't stamp of approval

Indian provider of Aviation Services - Air Works - recently received the approval from Director General of Civil Aviation [DGCA] for its Commercial Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul [MRO] operations in Hosur, near Bangalore.
