After forming its new air cargo division 2 weeks earlier, CMA CGM is set to begin operations on 8 March with its first cargo flight between Liege and Chicago. CMA CGM bets on air cargo with new division, A330-200Fs
CMA CGM has created a ‘specialised’ air freight division as it expands its shipping and logistics business with new products and solutions for shippers. The ocean shipping and logistics company is set to buy four 60-tonne-payload Airbus A330-200 freighters. These aircraft, which came into service between 2014 and 2016, can cover 4,000 nautical miles and will be operated by a European airline, the company said. Turkish Airlines has signed a firm order for the purchase of four A330-200F freighter aircraft. Jet Airways forays into air cargo biz
Mumbai-based Jet Airways is planning to enter its air cargo business by leasing up to three Airbus A330-200F freighter aircraft from Etihad, its Abu Dhabi-based partner airline. The plan is to start with the wet lease of one A330-200F in the next few months and later expand. As the business grows, the aircraft would be converted into dry leases.
