The Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) has released preliminary traffic figures for the full 2009 calendar year showing AAPA member’s international air cargo traffic down 11 per cent for the year. AAPA: Asia cargo volumes recovering but weak
Preliminary figures released by the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) for August, point to a slowly recovering air cargo sector. For the month of August, international cargo traffic for AAPA member airlines in terms of freight tonne kilometres rose to 3.9 million FTK, a very close second to July's 3.95 million FTK. Figures released by the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) showed air cargo demand remained depressed in April, with AAPA international freight tonne kilometres (FTKs) down 21.9 per cent, year-on-year. The AAPA average international cargo load factor was five percentage points lower, at 62.8 per cent. Air cargo demand remained depressed in March, with the latest figures released by the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) showing a 21.9 per cent decline in international freight tonne kilometres (FTKs) compared with March of last year. Freight traffic for Asian airlines plunged 11 per cent in October, the steepest decline for the carriers since 2001 and a worrying signal that the downturn is worsening.
