The European Commission (EC) has delayed, for the second time, the formal announcement of its baseline aviation sector CO2 emissions standard until mid-2010, Bloomberg reported. Tiger Air to retrain cargo pilots
Singapore-based low cost carrier Tiger Airways is embarking on initiatives involving cargo pilot conversion and multi-pilot licensing (MPL). The cargo pilot training program will re-train cargo pilots who have lost their jobs due to the slump in the global air cargo industry and place them with Tiger, which has 56 A320 aircraft on order. Etihad Crystal Cargo will roll out its new Xpress2D express-to-door delivery service to customers in Asia and the Middle East by the end of the year. IATA growth not quite as good as it seems
The latest International Air Transport Association (IATA) figures for air cargo show a decline of 9.6 per cent year-on-year (y-o-y) in August compared to declines of 11.3 per cent in July and 16.5 per cent in June. But that improving trend is not quite as good as it seems.
