Saudia Cargo B747 overruns Nigerian runway

A Saudia Cargo B747 freighter has overrun the runway in Abuja, the Nigerian capital and ran into a maintenance area of the airport before bursting into flames, according to a report in Nigeria's PM News. The report quoted unnamed aviation sources late Wednesday night who said the fire was quickly suppressed. Joe Obi, the spokesperson of Nigeria’s ministry of aviation, confirmed the incident but added that the plane landed safely. He said: “A Saudi Arabian B747 … [Read more...] about Saudia Cargo B747 overruns Nigerian runway

Father of Boeing 747′ wins Lifetime Achievement Award

Legendary Boeing aeronautical engineer Joe Sutter, credited with leading the development of the iconic 747 jetliner, has been honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the recent 2010 Farnborough International Airshow. Sutter joined Boeing in 1946 as an aerodynamics specialist and worked on the Boeing 377, Dash-80, 707, 727 and 737. Transaero launches Moscow-Beijing service

Transaero Airlines will launch regular twice-weekly flights from Moscow, Domodedovo International Airport to Beijing from 4 June. First Boeing 747-8 freighter takes shape

Jade Cargo B747 skids off runway in Seoul

Jade Cargo International has isssued a statement confirming an incident on its cargo flight JI 7432 Frankfurt - Incheon upon landing at Incheon Airport, Seoul. Its Boeing 747-400 Cargo ERF skidded off the runway during landing. The extent of the damage is not currently known but there were no injuries from the incident.
