Boeing’s top priority should be replacing its 777 widebody jet, not the 737 narrowbody, according to J.P. Morgan analyst Joseph Nadol who warned that Airbus’s new A350XWB widebody family, which is scheduled to enter service in 2015, already is eating into 777 sales. Prime Minister Vladimir Putin reprimanded Aeroflot recently for not purchasing enough Russian-made planes, telling the state-run carrier's CEO, Vitaly Savelyev that growing profits and dividends were not its only concern. Emirates marches on with $9B in new orders
Dubai's Emirates Airline has placed an order with Boeing for an additional 30 777-300ER aircraft, worth approximately US$9.1 billion at list prices. The new order adds to the fleet of 71 777-300ERs previously ordered, of which 53 aircraft are currently in service. The 777-300ER offers an additional cargo payload of 20.1 tonnes. Boeing begins assembly of first 747-8 Intercontinental
Boeing has announced it began assembly of the first 747-8 Intercontinental at its Everett, Washington factory. Late last week, mechanics took the first step in major assembly for the new airplane by loading its wing panels and spars in the assembly tools.
