Hainan Airlines to expand NAmerican network with Calgary this June
China's Hainan Airlines has announced an expansion of its North American network from 30 June with the launch its first ever flights to the Canadian city of Calgary using A330 equipment to start, replacing this with B787-8 Dreamliner aircraft from 1 August. HNA Group in talks to acquire Swissport
HNA Group Co., owner of China’s fourth-largest airline, is said to be in talks to acquire ground handler Swissport International Ltd., according to a Bloomberg report quoting unnamed sources. The report said Swissport’s private-equity owner PAI Partners SAS is seeking about US$3 billion from a sale, but negotiations have dragged on for several months, held up by disagreement over the price, according to the sources. Hainan Airlines buys 30 B787-9s
China’s fourth-largest carrier said it plans to order 30 B787-9 aircraft as it seeks to expand international routes to tap into growing demand for overseas travel from China. The order would be the biggest this year for the jet, worth US$7.7 billion according to list prices. It would also boost the aircraft maker’s 787 programme backlog to 855 planes.
