JAPAN: JAL cargo revenue plummets 56.2% in Q1

Hit by the dual impact of both the economic downturn and the outbreak of swine flu, Japan’s largest carrier Japan Airlines (JAL), reported a net loss of 99.04 billion yen (US$1.04 billion) in the three months ended 30 June. Japan’s two largest airlines saw their declines in international cargo volumes continue to slow in May. Japan Airlines, the country's largest carrier said that its international cargo volume declined for the 10th consecutive month in May, falling 21.7 per cent to 40,079 tonnes, year-on-year, a significant improvement on the 28.7 per cent plummet recorded in April. JAPAN: JAL cuts more capacity on international routes

Pointing to the slow recovery in air transport demand, Japan Airlines (JAL) said it will cut capacity on its international network. JAL posts US$651.2 million full-year loss

Japan Airlines has reported a net loss of Â¥63.1 billion (US$651.2 million) for the 2009 fiscal year ended 31 March, reversing a net profit of Â¥16.9 billion a year earlier. JAL recorded a 12.5 per cent decline in group revenue to Â¥1.95 trillion, while international cargo revenue slumped 23 per cent to Â¥152.1 billion. JAL and NCA to cargo code-share

Japan Airlines (JAL) and Nippon Cargo Airlines (NCA) have agreed to begin code share cargo flights from 29 March. The agreement will begin with code-share flights between Narita, Tokyo and Chicago and Los Angeles with a later expansion to New York, Seoul and Shanghai, pending approval.
