Munich Airport has welcomed the ruling by the Federal Administrative Court in Leipzig, in which the court has now dismissed the six outstanding complaints filed by the environmental group Bund Naturschutz Bayern and five private individuals, effectively clearing the way for the development of a third runway at the Bavarian airport. Munich airport sets record tonnages
Munich airport saw total 2014 cargo volumes increase eight per cent over prior year to a record 291,000 tons. When airmail is included, the cargo volume handled at the Bavarian hub exceeded 309,000 tons, with 85 per cent being bellyhold cargo on intercontinental flights. Germany's Bavarian Administrative Court has upheld an earlier decision on planning permission for Munich Airport's plans for a third runway.
