Strong growth in passenger traffic and a continuing boom in airfreight lifted Munich Airport to yet another very successful year in 2015. Munich Airport (MUC) achieved growth in all traffic segments in the first half of 2015 with growth in the air cargo business at Munich Airport outstripping that of the passenger segment. Munich airport saw total 2014 cargo volumes increase eight per cent over prior year to a record 291,000 tons. When airmail is included, the cargo volume handled at the Bavarian hub exceeded 309,000 tons, with 85 per cent being bellyhold cargo on intercontinental flights.
