IATA: July air freight markets rise strongly

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) released data for global air freight markets showing a strong increase in air cargo in July. Compared to July 2013, freight ton kilometres (FTKs) rose 5.8 per cent. This is an acceleration in growth from June when cargo demand grew at less than half that rate (2.4 per cent). Asia Pac carriers see continued cargo growth

SkyCargo adds LA to maindeck network

Emirates SkyCargo, the freight division of Emirates, has added Los Angeles to its network of freighter destinations across the US with the start of a weekly service, joining Chicago, Atlanta and Houston in Emirates SkyCargo’s US freighter network. Iceland volcano threatens Eyjafjallajökull repeat

The Icelandic Met Office in mid-August raised its aviation alert level to ‘orange’ as a result of activity in the Bardarbunga volcano, following a major earthquake, the largest in the area since 1996. On the five-color scale, orange sits one level below red, which denotes an active eruption, or one that is imminent. Boeing Shanghai redelivers B737-400 Freighter conversion

Boeing Shanghai Aviation Services Co., Ltd., (Boeing Shanghai) has redelivered the third of three B737-400 passenger-to-freighter conversions to Hainan Airlines and Yangtze River Express, both subsidiaries of the HNA Group.
