Cargo fire suspected in crash of UPS freighter
Investigators looking into last week's crash of a United Parcel Service Inc. (UPS) B747-400 freighter in Dubai are zooming in on the possibility that a fire started in the cargo hold touching off a chain of events that led to the aircraft to crashing into an uninhabited portion of military compound in the Emirate. A mixture of asset write-downs, restructuring, consolidation and recovery is on the cards for the Japanese airfreight sector, according to a new report from Business Monitor International . The bankrupt Japan Airlines (JAL), Asia's largest air carrier, was expected to have registered an operating loss of nearly US$1.7 billion in the fiscal year ended 31 March 2010. TSA claims 100% screening a success, but int’l in a “few years”
The US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has said the 1 August deadline for 100% screening of air cargo on domestic passenger aircraft was successfully implemented, but that the same goal for international cargo would only be met in a "few years" time. The TSA said it is continuing its work to improve cargo security on passenger flights originating in other countries, with TSA administrator John S.
