A Lufthansa Cargo MD-11 freighter had an accident on 28 July at 11.38 am (local time) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The freighter, Flight LH 8460, was on route from Frankfurt to Hong Kong with stopovers in Riyadh and Sharjah. Cargo demand continues to recover: IATA
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced international scheduled traffic statistics for June which showed continued strong demand growth as the industry recovers from the impact of the global financial crisis. Emirates adds another 30 B777-300ERs
Dubai-based Emirates placed an order with Boeing for an additional 30 B777-300ER aircraft, worth approximately US$9.1 billion at list prices. The new order adds to the fleet of 71 777-300ERs previously ordered, of which 53 aircraft are currently in service. British Airways seeks to spread blame in UK cartel case
British Airways has asked a UK court to add Air France-KLM Group, Cathay Pacific Airways and 30 other carriers as defendants in a court case over a price- fixing cartel for air cargo services.
