Air China sees profits sink 32 per cent
Beijing-based Air China said net profit sank 32 per cent for the full year 2013 to 3.26 billion yuan (US$524.6 million) as revenue per passenger slid and air cargo operations bled from soft demand and overcapacity in the industry. Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) will handle some 18,000 tonnes of cargo a year for Air China at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport after its agreement with the airline was extended to include new freighter flights. Cathay Pacific Airways and Air China have set up an air-cargo joint venture in China, according to a joint statement by the carriers on Thursday, finalising an agreement after discussions lasting nearly four years.
